What Is Shrink Wrap urban sweat lounge?

Shrink Wrap is an infrared sauna wellness studio in Vancouver. We have two treatments: infrared saunas & body roller. Clients can enjoy sweating or rolling in the serenity of their own personal private suite.

Why should I sweat?

We are all exposed to hundreds of chemicals a day in the air we breathe, the items we touch, what we apply to our skin, and what we eat and drink. Not all of these chemicals can be processed adequately by the body, nor can an endless amount or number of them be handled at one time. Some are even poisonous to the point of damaging critical parts (such as liver enzymes) that are supposed to detoxify our bodies. By implementing use the of an infrared sauna session into your weekly routine you can help your body rid itself of these devastating toxins.

What does roller massage do?

Simply put, it is a lymphatic massage that helps relieve muscle tension, eliminate unnecessary toxins from the body, and also lose centimeters from the body and reduce cellulite

How often should I use the body roller?

Shrink Wrap advises clients to begin roller massage with 10 regular sessions for best results. During this course it is best to repeat 45 minute roller massage procedure 2-3 times a week. If you want to keep your results for the future, you should continue with a 45 minute roll massage procedure once a week.

What is infrared heat?

Infrared light is part of the Sun’s invisible spectrum of light that has the ability to penetrate the human tissue. Infrared heat therapy uses these infrared light characteristics to heat the body directly rather than just the air. The experience of an infrared sauna is similar to sunbathing, which gives you the radiant heat that is all your own. The infrared heat penetrates your skin, giving you that wonderful natural warmth. Unlike sunbathing, infrared heat therapy is completely healthy and safe. You can relax in an infrared sauna and it will never cause your skin to burn.

How many calories can I burn?

Far Infrared Saunas are a healthy weight loss solution without exercising. Infrared Saunas burn 400-600 calories in just one 30-minute session. In a Far Infrared Sauna, a moderately fit person can sweat one pound of sweat in a 30-minute session; the equivalent of running 2-3 miles.

How do I burn calories from sweating?

Infrared saunas have been proven to aid in weight loss by heating your core temperature to induce sweating. Increases in blood flow and heart rate are a result, which, much like moderate exercise, has shown to help you lose weight. Saunas also help you lose weight by easing aches and pains associated with weight training, helping you get back into the gym the next day.

What Is the difference between a steam sauna & infrared?

A traditional sauna uses wet or dry heat to warm the air around you, which induces sweating. This can aid in weight loss, but it has shown that the weight loss is mainly due to loss of water – or heavy sweating. An infrared sauna heats your body from the inside out, which allows you to stay in the sauna longer and increases your heart rate. Infrared sauna use results in more calories burned in a shorter period of time. Furthermore, Solocarbon infrared heat allows for most of the far infrared wavelength to be near 9.4 microns, which is the level at which the human body absorbs infrared energy.  This is also the frequency at which a water molecule resonates or vibrates. This vibration causes a release of cellular toxins.  This optimal micron output also allows for deeper penetration of far infrared heat, which improves weight loss efforts.

Will I be losing water weight?

Yes, and this will be regained upon hydration. But the calories you burned are real!

How often should I sweat?

This is different for each individual! We recommend no more than once a day. Please see here for more details

How Long Will It Take For Me to Cool Down?

It could take up to an hour. This is normal and is part of your body returning to its regular body temperature (one plus is you are still burning calories after you sweat while this cool down is taking place).

Can I Bring My Kids?

Due to liability reasons, only those who are sweating can be in the room during sauna sessions. We also cannot have children left unattended in the lobby at any time for liability reasons. Please make alternative arrangements for childcare if you will be coming in to sweat.

We feel the pod is much more comfortable. You are able to breathe room temperature air which makes it more tolerable while still getting the benefits on your face. The session time is shorter because it doesn’t take as long to heat since it is a small space.
